When a Pet Passes Away

When a Pet Passes Away

What to Do, Step by Step

Whether your pet's passing was sudden or expected, knowing what to do next can feel overwhelming. Here's a clear walkthrough of the process, so you know what to expect.

1. Reach Out to Us

There's no need to handle this alone. Call us as soon as you're ready, and we'll guide you through everything from there. If your pet passed at a veterinary office, they may also be able to coordinate directly with us on your behalf.

2. We'll Arrange Pickup

We offer pickup from your home or your veterinarian's office, whenever works best for you. If you'd prefer to bring your pet to us yourself, that's an option too.

3. Choose the Type of Care

We'll walk you through our cremation options, private, individual, or communal, so you can choose what feels right for your pet and your family. There's no pressure to decide everything immediately; we'll help you think it through.

4. Your Pet Remains in Our Care

From the moment we receive your companion, they stay with us, personally and respectfully, for the entire process. We never outsource any part of this to a third party.

5. Choose a Keepsake (Optional)

If you'd like a special way to remember your pet, we offer an extensive selection of urns, jewelry, paw prints, and other keepsakes. This decision can also wait until you're ready.

6. Your Pet's Ashes Are Returned to You

Once everything is complete, we'll return your pet's ashes to you by pickup or shipping, whichever feels best for your family.

A Note on Other Pets in the Home

If you have other pets at home, know that many animals notice and respond to the loss of a companion too. Keeping routines steady and giving them extra attention in the days ahead can help them adjust.

A Note on Pet Insurance

If your pet had pet insurance, check with your provider about any documentation they may need related to your pet's passing, such as records from your veterinarian.
